Saturday Sunday School
What is this, you ask? It is an incredible outreach to the children of Spokane, Washington.
On Saturday mornings starting at 8:00am, our buses start their engines to travel through the streets of Spokane, ready to pick up hundreds of children. The sounds of the prayers of over 40 volunteers fill the halls of Spokane Christian Center as they board the buses, answer the phones, and prepare the sanctuary with balloons, lights, candy, and action. This amazing program begins at 10:30am and last for 1 power-packed hour.
Saturday Sunday School started within the heart of Linda, our Pastor’s wife who is lovingly called "Miss Linda" by the children, when she was just a small child. Her dream came to fruition on Easter of 1991. It all began with three people walking door-to-door asking children to ride on a big yellow bus to learn about Jesus. Seven children came that first week; within one year, two buses were filled to the brim with the smiles of 4 to 12 year olds, all filled with excitement to play games, pop balloons, sing, dance, and most of all to learn that Jesus loves them. Every Saturday when the invitation to receive Jesus is given, the altar and aisles are full of children giving their hearts to the Lord. Jesus said, “Allow the little ones to come to Me, and do not forbid, restrain, or hinder them, for of such (as these) is the kingdom of heaven composed,” (Matthew 19:14b).
Today we operate 10 buses filled with kids eager to know that someone loves them. The people of Spokane Christian Center donate their time, energy, prayers, and finances to love these little children.
We currently Offer:
- Our annual Easter Egg Hunt
- Backpack giveaways filled with school supplies
- Summer barbeques with squirt gun fun
